Winemaking process
Varieties:
Lagrein is an old variety, indigenous to South Tyrol and related to the Teroldego vine from Trentino: it admirably reflects the soil, climate and character of its homeland.
Terroir:
Alluvial debris of slightly clayey limestone deposited at the end of the last Ice Age, located on a gentle north-south slope at 270 metres above sea level, provides the ideal soil for the approximately 30-year-old Lagrein grapevines.
Vinification:
The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in open wooden casks and is then aged for 11 months in French tonneaux.

The 20 hectares of the biodynamically cultivated vineyards of Baron Longo are located in South Tyrol’s south, around the picturesque Castelletto in Egna. The vineyards range from 240 metres a.s.l. up to Montagna, in the Trudner Horn Nature Park, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes thrive. The main varieties produced by the family winery are Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Cabernet. As a winemaker, Anton Baron Longo concentrates on wines that are distinguished by their elegance.
